Emergency Service App Design
112 is a redesigned concept for India’s emergency app, focused on quick, easy access during critical moments. The original app works but feels outdated. This design aims to improve speed, clarity, and usability without replacing the existing system.

The goal was to create a cleaner, faster interface that helps users reach emergency services instantly, with minimal steps and maximum clarity.
The original app presents several challenges, people often struggle to remember different emergency numbers, and the outdated, cluttered interface makes navigation confusing, especially in urgent situations.
To solve the problem of remembering multiple numbers, I designed a clear list of emergency categories like police, fire, and medical. Each section displays the relevant contact instantly, making it easy to find help without delay.
The app is built around three simple screens. First is the SOS screen for instant help. The home screen shows your location with two clear options, one to call 112 and one to view all emergency contacts. The third screen lists every emergency number so you don’t have to remember them.
To make sure first-time users can act fast, the app includes a quick onboarding experience. It highlights the main features in seconds and can be skipped entirely if the user needs to jump straight into action.
The app also includes a full dark mode to ensure better visibility in low-light situations.
I used a simple, clean design with Inter as the primary typeface for easy readability. The color palette includes two high-contrast colors, orange to highlight urgency and dark navy blue.
